November 10, 2011:
ECG Managing Director, Bryan Martel spoke on the "Alternative Finance Models for Green Tech Startups" panel at the Opportunity Green Business Conference in Los Angeles. Bryan was joined by Venture Capitalists and Angel investors specializing in green start-up investments.

October 18, 2011:
ECG Managing Director, David Heppe spoke on a panel at the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association's (EMPEA) inaugural Capital Impact 2011 conference in London. The conference examined How Long-Term Investors Create Value in Emerging Markets, and David's panel was a Sector Case Study on Investors' Perspectives on Private Equity's Impact on Climate Change Scenarios. David was joined on the panel by representatives of Sustainable Development Capital LLP, IFC Asset Management Company, Mercer Investment Consulting, The Banker, and Aloe Private Equity, among others.

David spoke about the need for the public sector to do more to attract private sector capital into clean infrastructure in emerging markets.

September 22, 2011:
ECG Managing Director, David Heppe spoke on a panel at the Renewable Energy Technology Conference (RETECH) in Washington, D.C. The session title was "Renewable Energy Ecosystem Collaboration for Achieving Operational Excellence." David was joined on the panel by representatives of BrightSource Energy, Autodesk, and the National Venture Capital Association, among others.

David presented an overview of ECG's pioneering work on measuring and monitoring the environmental benefits generated by CalPERS' and New York City pension funds' investments in clean energy and technology.

August 22, 2011:
ECG Managing Director, Bryan Martel joined the World Pension Forum in Aspen, for their Mission Possible: Reaching New Peaks conference. Bryan assisted in pulling together the panel on Global Energy and Commodities.

The keynote speakers were Jon Huntsman Jr., US Ambassador to China (2009-2011), and former Governor of Utah (2005-2009), and Governor Bill Ritter, Governor of Colorado (2006-2010), and Director of the Center for the New Energy Economy at Colorado State University.

June 6, 2011:
California State Treasurer Bill Lockyer Joins International Board Developing Standards for Climate Bonds. He will be joining the Board in supervising a program to provide investors and governments an easy way to assess the integrity of environmental claims for green bonds. Treasurer Lockyer joined the Climate Bonds Initiative (CBI) board as an extension of his efforts with the P8 group. ECG helped establish and grow the P8 ("Pensions 8"), hosted by HRH The Prince of Wales through the University of Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership.

March, 2011:
The Prairie Trust of London, England again recognizes ECG's pro bono work with the University of Cambridge's Programme for Sustainability Leadership in promoting sustainability amongst pensions and sovereign funds. The Prairie Trust generously honored ECG with a grant to support their work in 2011 in this area.

Feb 8-9, 2011:
The 5th P8 Summit was hosted in Brussels by Ambassador Gutman, US Ambassador to Belgium. EU President Barroso and HRH Prince of Wales participated, along with finance and climate experts, pension representatives, and representatives from World Bank Group, IFC, Asia Development Bank, US Government, UK DECC, UK DFID, UNFCCC & OECD as well as the other investor groups IIGCC and INCR.

The participants covered a wide ranging set of issues: from the political landscape to detailed discussions on particular investment opportunities. They were also presented with new research on climate risks and how impacts already effect investment valuations.

The P8 brings together executives from leading public pension and sovereign wealth funds to build on their existing activities in the area of climate change. It helps catalyze opportunities for further investment and the removal of barriers to large-scale capital deployment in climate change mitigation. ECG Managing Director Bryan Martel helped establish the P8 in 2007 and has worked closely with the Cambridge Programme for Sustainaiblity Leadership since before the P8's inception to grow the effort.

January, 2011:
Environmental Capital Group has been selected to join the advisory panel of the Climate Bonds Initiative, a network of organizations created to serve as a catalyst for the rapid emergence of Climate Bonds. Climate Bonds are issued to raise finance for investments in emission reduction or climate change adaptation. The Initiative is headed up by Sean Kidney and has three workstreams: policy models and advice, standards development, and demonstration projects. ECG is supporting the standards development work, drawing on our experience with environmental measurement and monitoring in the private equity sector.
