Position: Environmental Analyst

Job Description:

Environmental Capital Group has been at the forefront of the clean technology sector, catalyzing the first institutional investments in cleantech and providing pioneering measurement and accountability for environmental efficacy. We are seeking an individual with strong analytical skills, a background in clean technology, and high energy to join our team. Responsibilities for this part- to full-time position include:

  • Provide detailed technical assessments of early to mid-stage clean energy and technology companies that include:

    • Scientific feasibility of new and developing technologies including renewable energy sources, biofuels, energy conservation, carbon sequestration, recycling, water purification, remediation and conservation, waste management, and toxic remediation and prevention.

    • Scientifically defendable measures for evaluating the net long term impacts of products, processes and services on the environment.

    • Life cycle analysis (LCA) for potential products and services.

  • Develop new reporting mechanisms and tools to effectively gather, analyze, and communicate environmental impact information across diverse segments of the scientific and investment communities.

  • Partner with a wide range of academic and industry resources to obtain, develop and implement insights, perspectives, tools and capabilities to enhance environmental impact analyses.

  • Partner with financial and capital investment experts to understand and manage the integration of environmental analysis with financial analysis to drive sound, successful environmental investing.

  • Provide technical consulting services on environmental sustainability to a broad range of investment organizations, including venture capital groups, investment funds, and pension funds.

  • Work with internal team members in the technical and investment management groups to achieve company objectives.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in the physical sciences or engineering

  • At least five years management or operational experience in private industry

  • Working experience in energy, environmental and/or conservation issues

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

  • Working understanding of capital investment markets

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Individual initiative and ability to work well in team environment

  • Ability to excel in a fast paced environment and adapt to evolving roles and responsibilities

  • Education: Minimum BS or equivalent in physical sciences or engineering
